Dr. Itamar Ringel
Dr. Itamar Ringel was born in the USA in 1980 and has been playing as the principal violist of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra since 2018.
He began his musical training at the Conservatory of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Receiving scholarships from AICF and DAAD, he graduated from the music academies of Jerusalem, Boston and Berlin. He won the German Opus-Klassik prize in the field of Chamber Music, and the Israeli Minister of Culture’s prize for playing Yinam Leef’s concerto with the Israel Philharmonic. He played as soloist with orchestras in Israel and abroad, as a guest with the Berlin Philharmonic, and more. Was assistant to Tabea Zimmermann at the Berlin Music Academy and wrote a doctorate on Ligeti’s Viola Sonata. Recorded the complete music for viola by Oedoen Partos for the German label WERGO.
